Sophia's Wish
Well, actually I have been hunting for this song for a long while ever since I heard it on television. A bit of introduction of the group...JS is a Taiwanese group formed by elder brother and younger sister, Justin and Sophia respectively. As you guessed, this song is named after the sister. Actually this song has not much relation to the real person but what moves me isn't just the catchy tune but the lyrics written by Justin. The song is a description of life. As in the song, maybe we are no different from Sophia.
Sophia, she left homeTo fulfill a dream she's expectingFarewell to her parentsAnd the grocery store lady across the laneWho saw her grow up since youngSophia, she keeps to herselfHaving weird ideas about this worldAlthough no one understands herMaybe she will glitter like a starUpon the city she dreamt ofForgive her for having this wishJust like every child will doDifficult? There's a price to payOnly God can make it come trueCarrying hopes along with her heavy luggageGoing on an adventureMaybe she will struggle or be afraidIt doesn't matter 'cos Heaven's waiting at the endSeeing no stars in this glittering cityHer tears start to flowThe world's too small for her impossible dreamsMaybe Life's a cruel jokeSophia, she cut her long hair shortAnd put on makeup on her innocent faceAlthough she doesn't like the new herYet she kept comforting herselfIt's not the worst scenarioThey say the price to realise your dreamsIs to sacrifice a part of yourselfBut when she looks at her imageWondering "Is this what I wanted"?Maybe you heard of her, SophiaOr you are just like herGive her some consolationSeeing no stars in this glittering cityHer tears start to flowNo matter how small the world or how big her dreamsLife wouldn't be a cruel jokeCarrying hopes along with her heavy luggageGoing on an adventureNo matter how small the world or how big her dreamsShe wouldn't change, SophiaPardon my humble translation of the lyrics but I have kept it close to human understanding. Just like Sophia, we all have dreams and ambitions. Sometimes we dare to think of the impossibles and engross in fulfilling them. During the process, we might start to differ from the rest of the world and start to hate ourselves. We might also start to deceive ourselves.
Change is inevitable. But being what you really are matters a lot. Being true to yourself. Being able to realise your dreams. Like my earlier entry, it's a fact. ^^
