Eerie Update

Ha...I'm typing this as The Gate is opening so all people please be extra careful for the month.

A lot of people might ask why did I revert the blog template back to the previous one. Well apparently having a entry number for each entry was useful to me as I can keep track of my entries easily. But there was a problem of the entry number skipped when I deleted a rather useless entry. I didn't mind the glitch initially but AhSiaKia said it looked untidy. Thus, I had to use a replacement template as I proceed to create a new one. Yup, a new one. It will be still my simple, free-for-all format. Aka you can copy text, link, blah blah blah. On second thought, I might do some coding.

Didn't have much time to blog this week or rather this month. I will try to blog within these 2 days. So, stay tuned.

Infection

Well, a trip to Sembawang Music store made me broke. LOL. Not too broke anyway. I found a interesting find among the screening through the racks. The Ultimate Collection by 鬼束ちひろ (Chihiro Onitsuka). I've been a fan of her ever hearing 月光 the 1st time. Especially the single version. It's too bad that her newer songs are more into rock while it's the ballads that made her famous. Hope she goes out of hiatus soon. ^^ This song is so far my favourite besides 月光. Well, to explain why...erm like I always said, individual people gives different reactions. Enjoy the video! 「何とか上手く答えなくちゃ」
そしてこの舌に雑草が増えて行く
鼓動を横切る影が
また誰かの仮面を
剥ぎ取ってしまう
In the night
I sit down as if I'm dead

In the night
I realize this infection

Cosfest V Report

It was a tough choice deciding the line up for the morning as I need to go Kovan City to meet up with Julian. I had to plan it in a way I don't end up going in different directions. Well, I had to go town central to get my bag and also do some errands then it would be a trip down to Kovan City to get a new pair of jeans and to meet up with Julian.

Julian ended up waiting for me for quite a bit....Then I sent my regards to Cong Zhi whose she will be transferred to the Jurong Point branch. By the time we left Kovan, it was already one plus. I opted for a taxi and we managed to hijack one. Yup. It did came with a price. We got a rookie driver which later we suspected he was acting. We apparently travelled the long way and loops till I finally gave directions to the driver.

We reached Downtown East around 2pm. We went around the place taking pictures and visited booths and booths. I also met up with the usual gang(with more few missing...) and the usual cosplayers. I can't find William anywhere till later I learnt he left early to prepare for his birthday celebration. Julian bought a graphic book at $35 at the Imaginary Friends booth. Then we had lunch and much later we departed for City Hall where we had dinner at the food court at Funan. We parted our ways and I went up to GameScore. I stayed there watching JL playing his Xenosaga III and Timothy testing Chou Dragonball Z. I got invited for dinner but sadly I ate already. I decided to go back home to rest early rather than joining them in a trip to Orchard.

To talk about the event, the turnout was better than last year BUT there was one major problem. The majority of the past cosplayers didn't cosplay thus there were new and lesser cosplayers. The problems about new cosplayers are their inexperience and lack of professionalism. Thus, I saw cosplayers being lost in mind during skits, their costumes falling apart and boring long skits. I can see the disappointment in the faces of the 3 Japanese judges. The veterans took on a speculator mode this year. Some of them came to watch not to cosplay. There was a distinctive difference between onstage and offstage. All the good cosplayers were apparently wandering around offstage and the photographers had a good time filming them up close and personal. Well, most of the photographers were moving around rather than watching what's happening onstage. I will try to post a link of the pictures Julian and I snapped. Hopefully again. LOL

Talking about snapped.....Julian gave me a fright when he suddenly jumped on my back so he could get a better shot. He's almost the same height as me and possesses a broad build but leaner. Yet, he was not that heavy. I gave him a ride for a short while till I was feeling embarrassed seeing the reactions from others.

Seems like he had quite an anti-social childhood....he doesn't know the places of interest in Singapore that well. Yet, he's a Singaporean. LOL. Must get him out much then. ^^

Another Reunion

Am I going very lucky this week? A few days ago, I was mentioning about meeting up with primary school friends and today I saw someone again.

I saw Bertrand. Yup, the guy whose super engrossed in badminton in army. Well, we didn't know each other at the beginning. He was posted to SAFPU after a few months or more I was posted there. He's a easy going person and he's extremely friendly too. We would always talk about the latest popular animes. After I lefted SAFPU, I met him again during a visit to the new camp site. And well, that was the last time I saw him physically. I had him on my ICQ and we would chat online too. Even after he also left SAFPU and went overseas to study. Then...I got no news of him anymore suddenly. To me, he just vanished.

There was some sort of a prelude of seeing him today yesterday. I thought I saw a man who looked like him outside the shop. And today, I saw him walking in with a friend. The only difference from not seeing for a long time....he had more hair of course. Haha. We chatted for a while and he gave me his MSN address. Will be looking forward to see him more before his vacation ends.

The sense of deja vu is happening again. It's been a long time since I ever sense one. Looks like trouble again....

Cosfest V is coming in shortly. Damn sad that William didn't get his bike armour on time or else I would have a sentry standing outside the shop. LOL. I can see a lot of the usual people are going with the exception of a certain few. Going to meet up with Julian tomorrow. Hopes this year's better than the last. Oh ya, time to charge both my phone and camera. ^^

A Glimpse of the Reunion

Well, I was really surprised when I saw Jaclyn and the rest appearing at the shop in Plaza Singapura. The most unexpected surprise was that Timothy was with them too. Yeah, he's back in Singapore and will be staying for good. He stopped his studies in Australia for some reasons. I had long heard about his return from his sister-in-law but I thought he returned for vacation. Welcome back twin brother. ^^

Another surprise hit me consecutively for 2 days. Yesterday, I got a message from Zongjian which I wasn't around. I always thought he forgot about me and he doesn't reply my emails I sent from Friendster. Today, before I left for work, I got a message from Jeng. He said he saw Edmund at his workplace. Both of them are working as remisiers. I was really thrilled upon hearing it from Jeng and I almost cried. Edmund was sort of a reason the gang existed.

Back in primary school, I believed most would been through this. UNO, chinese chess and zero-pointer. UNO was a popular card game back then. Chinese chess was for the gifted-in-mind individuals. Girls were crazy over zero-pointer and guys don't lose out either. But Edmund was very creative. Remember the erasers that have country flags printed on them? He would design games using those erasers and implement tactics and techniques. Like the angles the erasers will create when stacked on top of each other would represent a certain move. And there were even calculation of damage and we will always have pen and paper to take note of our stats. It is quite alike to the modern trading card games.

The special thing about him is that he gave us nicknames. Everyone has his/her nick related to his/her name or his/her special trait. Like Chee Wing as Chicken Wing, Yisheng as Boss, Jian Qi as Jeng Jeng the Junk, Ming Yao as Father and me as.....Mother. LOL. Up to now, I don't know the reason for my nick. But he would always go calling me Mommy. Geezz... Thanks to him, the bond between the gang was specially strong.

Edmund is gathering us for an outing next Wednesday. Maybe we should plan for a reunion somehow. : )

Superman Returns

Yeah, it's the guy who wears his underwear outside. Really, I wondered if he ever questioned himself why he designed it that way. Maybe standard Kryptonian dress code? LOL.

Well, I didn't know Kenneth actually ordered the tickets in advance without telling me and he have to thank his lucky stars that I was available. I received a call from him on Thursday evening asking if I wanted to watch the movie. Back then, I was very skeptical on his chances to get the tickets till later he messaged that he got the tickets. Wow! Then I joined the guys at The Cathay after knocking off work.

Actually before watching the movie, I had heard bits about the movie and most said it was kinda sad and bland. Before I go on, I must say that different individuals have different preferences. So this's how I feel. I agree with the majority. Most of the movie emphasise on Superman's powers and his rekindled relationship with Lois Lane. But the weak point is this....where did all the action go? As I can recall, in the previous movies by late Christopher Reeve, each movie has a super villain. And the exciting battles that sprung off as Superman finally won and saved the day. Okay, Lex Luther is in here and he's a mere mad(hu)man. Well this new Superman seems to be much like a soap drama. And not to mention, the really unexpected twist at the end of the movie. I won't spoil as much as possible but I really find the phrase meaningful.

The son becomes the father, the father becomes the son.

If I'm going to explain...it's going to spoil the movie but please watch it to understand intelligently.

It dawns to me that the guys have been going back to The Cathay for lots of movies. I do agree that it does have that grand feeling and of course nostagic as we have been patrons for a long while. Not to forget we watch X-Men 3 in the Grand Cathay, yeah the renovated old cinema and the largest in The Cathay. It really looks like a grand hall more than a cinema in there. Hey, not to miss the spotlight displays as well.

Seems like there will be a singing session coming soon. Hope this time Kenneth will sing more.
