Cosfest V Report

It was a tough choice deciding the line up for the morning as I need to go Kovan City to meet up with Julian. I had to plan it in a way I don't end up going in different directions. Well, I had to go town central to get my bag and also do some errands then it would be a trip down to Kovan City to get a new pair of jeans and to meet up with Julian.

Julian ended up waiting for me for quite a bit....Then I sent my regards to Cong Zhi whose she will be transferred to the Jurong Point branch. By the time we left Kovan, it was already one plus. I opted for a taxi and we managed to hijack one. Yup. It did came with a price. We got a rookie driver which later we suspected he was acting. We apparently travelled the long way and loops till I finally gave directions to the driver.

We reached Downtown East around 2pm. We went around the place taking pictures and visited booths and booths. I also met up with the usual gang(with more few missing...) and the usual cosplayers. I can't find William anywhere till later I learnt he left early to prepare for his birthday celebration. Julian bought a graphic book at $35 at the Imaginary Friends booth. Then we had lunch and much later we departed for City Hall where we had dinner at the food court at Funan. We parted our ways and I went up to GameScore. I stayed there watching JL playing his Xenosaga III and Timothy testing Chou Dragonball Z. I got invited for dinner but sadly I ate already. I decided to go back home to rest early rather than joining them in a trip to Orchard.

To talk about the event, the turnout was better than last year BUT there was one major problem. The majority of the past cosplayers didn't cosplay thus there were new and lesser cosplayers. The problems about new cosplayers are their inexperience and lack of professionalism. Thus, I saw cosplayers being lost in mind during skits, their costumes falling apart and boring long skits. I can see the disappointment in the faces of the 3 Japanese judges. The veterans took on a speculator mode this year. Some of them came to watch not to cosplay. There was a distinctive difference between onstage and offstage. All the good cosplayers were apparently wandering around offstage and the photographers had a good time filming them up close and personal. Well, most of the photographers were moving around rather than watching what's happening onstage. I will try to post a link of the pictures Julian and I snapped. Hopefully again. LOL

Talking about snapped.....Julian gave me a fright when he suddenly jumped on my back so he could get a better shot. He's almost the same height as me and possesses a broad build but leaner. Yet, he was not that heavy. I gave him a ride for a short while till I was feeling embarrassed seeing the reactions from others.

Seems like he had quite an anti-social childhood....he doesn't know the places of interest in Singapore that well. Yet, he's a Singaporean. LOL. Must get him out much then. ^^
