Farewell To The King
Finally found time to update here. And not to mention I just have to. I believe this news is quite popular right now. Yeah, Michael Jackson had passed away due to heart attack.
Well, for people in my generation, he is indeed a pop icon. Even I should say a legend. He inspired many new artistes who tried to be on par with him and for us, we tried to mimic him. Like his fashion sense and of course, his dance moves. I did had my fair share of trying to perfect his moonwalk back then but don't ask me to do now...legs getting rusty. LOL
But we do not know him just because of his music and dance moves. We actually knew him. Through his music. Through his life. Unlike us, we grew up on MacDonald's french fries and cola, he didn't have much of a childhood. Remember the song "Childhood"? He started singing at the age of 8 with his brothers whom they were forced by their abusive father. He did make it big but unknown to others, he had to pay a price for it. His entire life is all about creating music for us and to tell his story.
He was indeed a strong person too. Despite able to survive countless facial surgeries to alter his face, he was still living strong. As a performer and as a person. He seemed unwillingly to remember his sad past so he felt he had to change physically. And for his strange behavour, I would say that he was plainly making up for his lost childhood. Every time we saw him, it was always his dazzling self. But we never remembered or thought how did he manage to get this far. It is a common norm that people put up a brave front to hide their weaknesses and I felt that MJ is a perfect example. No matter how much you can pretend to be happy, indifferent, ignorant or angry, you can't deny the fact that the past still matters a lot. It makes what we are now. Like my mother used to say this..."When you had your fun, remember to come back home." Think about it. ^^
Ironically, people started to talk about MJ after his death just like my friend said. When he was still around, no one did...only when his bad news surfaced. Why we have to start regretting or remembering when things had gone to a point of no return? We could have given enough chances. Like MJ, who was given another chance by doing comeback concerts after so much scandals. Sometimes, it is wise to ease up and let things go.
Well, the radio's blasting his songs 24/7. To me, MJ will be deeply remembered. For what he is and what he gave us. May you rest in peace, MJ.
